Terms

Terms of use

In short: for cars whose head unit supports Apple CarPlay; never let the screen distract you while driving; EV Guardian helps you monitor but is not a certified safety device, and reports are not a battery health certificate.

Effective from: [TBD: effective date]

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and [TBD: company name] (“we”, “us”) for using the EVSense box, the EV Guardian membership and the evsense.app website. By using the box or subscribing, you accept these terms.

What EVSense is

EVSense is an Android box that plugs into the USB port of the original head unit and shows on the car screen through the car’s Apple CarPlay. It has three parts:

  • Use through Apple CarPlay on the original car screen.
  • EV Gauge — live EV data read through a Vgate OBD adapter. Read-only; it never controls the car.
  • EV Guardian — high-voltage battery monitoring and alerts (danger-level alerts are free; the rest is for members).

Conditions of use

  • Your head unit must already support Apple CarPlay. Not every car is supported: see Tested cars and contact us before buying if your car is not listed.
  • Install it following the installation guide. No wire cutting is needed.
  • Do not use the screen in a way that distracts you while driving. Change settings, enter emails or pair devices only when parked.
  • Always follow traffic laws and your car’s owner’s manual.

Limits of EV Guardian

Please read this carefully
  • EV Guardian helps you monitor and get alerts. It is not a certified safety device and cannot promise to catch every problem.
  • The car’s BMS and dashboard warnings remain the primary protection. If a warning comes on, follow the owner’s manual first.
  • Every report is not a battery health certificate.
  • SOH is the value reported by the car; EVSense does not measure it. What data is available depends on what each car model provides.

EV Guardian membership

  • 30-day free trial per box, starting the first time the box is used. No sign-up needed.
  • Membership is monthly, at [price TBD] per month.
  • For now you pay by bank transfer or PromptPay and we activate membership by hand. There is no automatic billing. See how to subscribe.
  • Membership takes effect once the box is online, usually within a few minutes.
  • Without internet, membership keeps working for 14 days after the box last reached our server.
  • When membership ends: the battery health screen returns to an intro page, report emails stop, and history is kept (for the periods in the privacy policy). CarPlay, EV Gauge and danger-level alerts keep working.

Warranty and refunds

Box warranty: [TBD: warranty and return policy]

Membership refunds: [TBD: refund policy]

Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under consumer protection law (draft).

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for damage caused by misuse, modification, or use with cars that have not been tested. This does not limit any liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for our wilful misconduct or gross negligence (draft — wording and any liability cap pending legal review).

Software and updates

The box uses the internet for membership checks, reports and software updates. We may improve or change features through updates, but we will not remove the free danger-level alerts (draft).

Open-source software in the box

The software in the box includes open-source components, used under each project’s licence. You can request the component list and any source code those licences require by email: [email protected]

Licence details and how to request source code: [TBD]

Trademarks

Apple and CarPlay are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Car makes and models are trademarks of their respective owners and are named only to describe compatibility. EVSense is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Apple Inc. or any car manufacturer mentioned.

Personal data

How we collect and use data is described in the privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service changes. The effective date will be shown on this page, and members will be told about significant changes by confirmed email.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand (draft — jurisdiction clause pending legal review).
