Basic requirements

What does a car need to work with EVSense?

The head unit must already support Apple CarPlay and have a USB port that works with CarPlay. For EV data, the car must be a tested EV and you need a Vgate OBD adapter.

A head unit with Apple CarPlay

The EVSense screen appears through the car's own CarPlay. EVSense does not add CarPlay to a car that doesn't have it.

The USB port used for CarPlay

Plug the box into the USB port the head unit uses for CarPlay. If there are several ports, check the car's manual for the CarPlay one.

EV data: a Vgate OBD adapter

EV Gauge and EV Guardian read data through a Vgate in the OBD-II port, and only on tested EVs. Non-EV cars get the CarPlay part only.

Reading the table

What do the statuses and marks mean?

Works
Tested and working for the features ticked ✓ in that row.
Partial / improving
Works in part, still has issues such as dropped connections, or is waiting for a re-test on the latest software — see the notes. We are working on it, with no fixed date yet.
Tested, works
That feature has been tested on this car.
Not tested yet
Not tested yet. That doesn't mean it fails — we just can't confirm it.
Not applicable
Not an EV, so there is no EV data to read.

Your car isn't in the table — now what?

If your car isn't in the table, we haven't tested it yet. Contact us before you buy with the make, model and year, and we will tell you honestly what we know.

We only add a car after we have actually tested it, and we can't promise when any particular model will be supported.
